  • Wingspan can reach 5 feet.

Lifecycle

  • Breed in Autumn.
  • Pups are born early Summer - one pup is born to each female.
  • Fruit bats tend to live in large colonies. One male usually lives with up to eight females.

Habits

  • Location - Dense forest areas.
  • Visibility - They are nocturnal, generally seen hanging from trees by their feet during the day.
  • Feeding - Fruits and nectar from flowers, they will eat leaves when fruit and flowers are in short supply.
