Appearance

Up to 16 inches long.
Wingspan can reach 5 feet.
Long snouts, small ears, large eyes.

Lifecycle

Breed in Autumn.
Pups are born early Summer - one pup is born to each female.
Fruit bats tend to live in large colonies. One male usually lives with up to eight females.

Habits

Location - Dense forest areas.
Visibility - They are nocturnal, generally seen hanging from trees by their feet during the day.
Feeding - Fruits and nectar from flowers, they will eat leaves when fruit and flowers are in short supply.
